Easy Autumn Leaf Lanterns
If you are looking for a fun, but simple, fall craft…look no further! This craft requires very little supplies and the results are simply beautiful! The girls, aged 7 and 9, were able to complete this activity completely on their own. They loved having creative freedom with their designs and immediately began talking about how beautiful it would be to have these lanterns on their bedside tables that evening. I hope you have as much fun creating your Autumn Leaf Lantern as they did!
SUPPLIES:
We began by digging out our pressed leaves from last fall. The girls quickly chose their favorite colors and began punching out leafy shapes.
Once they had their shapes all set, they coated the jar with a nice layer of Mod Podge.
They placed their leaf shapes on top of the glue and then placed another thick layer on top of the leaf to firmly secure it.
Some leaves did pop up slightly in the corners but we kept pressing them down as the glue dried and they eventually complied.
They dried very quickly and the results were beautiful! The Mod Podge left a frosted texture on the plain glass which really added to the overall effect.
The girls decided a finishing touch of twine along the mouth of the jar was needed and I tend to agree.
We placed real tea lights in them initially but when the girls took them to bed that night, I swapped them out for battery operated tea lights.
What do you think? We are completely in love!
