“KidArtLit” Monthly Box Review

We recently were giveaway winners and received a free box from KidArtLit, we wanted to share our experience in case anyone would enjoy taking a peek at what they have to offer.

KidArtLit ‘s monthly subscription includes a beautiful, boutique-quality picture book and related theme art projects all packaged and set to go for your family.   

The first thing we saw when we opened our box was a beautiful book wrapped in yellow tissue paper…okay, I my interest was piqued!

This book hits all the marks for me, gorgeous cover with fabric spine, beautiful detailed illustrations and a plot that captivates and teaches a beautiful lesson. 

What a treat to own a copy of this beauty!

Next we were presented with two book-related art activities, one “Ready, Set, Go” to get started with right away and another “Art Kit” to prepare and present a little later. 

We love that the box included a booklet with all the information we would need to fully enjoy this experience.

This booklet included prompts for discussing the book, instructions for our art projects, tips and tricks and gentle reminders on how to fully enjoy the experience as a family. 

We decided to tackle the “Ready, Set, Go” art kit first.  It included materials to create raven masks as ravens played a fundamental role in the story of “Leaf“.  

We were happy to see there was enough supplies for both Miss 7 and Miss 4 to participate.  Masks, feathers, tulle, sequins and glue stick were all included, as well as detailed instructions on how to succeed at this activity.  

The girls were impatient at the thought of letting the glue dry so we did staple the feathers on to speed up the process. 

Miss 7 is more reserved and quiet…Miss 4 can’t get enough sparkles and flounce in her life…I think their personalities shone through in this creative process.

Next up, we tackled the “Art Kit” which featured a glue and salt resist painting activity. This activity encouraged the girls to make sparkly, arctic habitats for polar bears.  The materials included were: a full white glue bottle, Popsicle stick and plastic container for mixing paint, blue tempera paint, tissue paper and fluff, sponge paint brushes, watercolour paper and two little polar bear erasers. (Both girls could participate again!) 

The girls layered blue paint, glue and salt for a beautiful icy-snow look.

They then added fluff and scrunched up tissue paper to complete the habitat.  They sought inspiration from the pages of  the featured book “Leaf“. 

Needless to say, we were thoroughly impressed with our first experience with KidLitArt and would encourage all to check out their website and see if this monthly subscription is right for your family.  The combination of a beautifully illustrated book with a positive message AND corresponding art based activities is genius in my opinion.  The girls loved every step of this adventure and I have got to say…having everything perfectly prepared, beautifully packaged and delivered in a sweet little box was such a treat for this crafty mama. I love happy mail!
